Online A Reflection

Technology is important because we use it in everyday life. Technology has changed over the past 5 years because it has became more mobile and people use it almost everywhere. I think that in the next 5 years the technology will become more advanced than we ever dreamed. I use search engines and word processing programs for my school work. I use browsers and very little social networking. I think I will use these tools when I am doing projects or presentations in the future. I think that the safety tools are the most practical tools for lifelong learning. I don't think that I will ever use a blog again. My favorite tool was learning how to use and download the gadgets. My least favorite thing that we did was the avatars because the tools were limited when creating them.

March 1st--Podcast

The Galaxy Note 2 has a 1.6 Quad core processor. It has many pre-installed apps built in to the system. Smart stay allows the phone to keep the screen on by scanning your eyes, if you're watching something or playing a game. Smart rotation uses the front-facing camera to determine which direction to rotate. S-Pen allows you to take notes from your home-screen by just taking the pen out of it's port. On the international version the Galaxy Note 2 has some features that you won't find on the U.S. version. The international version can be split-screen so you can browse the Internet and look at a map at the same time. Each version of the phone changes for each phone carrier. AT&T doesn't have the split-screen option, but the Verizon version does. Samsung tries to keep the software the same on each version for the carrier, but not all carriers want the ones with part of the software that is optional.

I liked learning this way because it is different than the "normal" ways of teaching. I think people create podcast over text because the podcast are easy to make and use. This information is reliable and opinion based, some aspects were opinion based and others were facts about the phone.

Tech Article

4G Networks can do more than we ever imagined. Downloading videos in a few minutes can be good, but will consume your data usage fast. We can use our phones to control items in our house, but after the battery dies, you have to wait for it to recharge. It lets you work from anywhere in the world with the touch of a finger. Eventually, people predict that we will be able to talk to our cars not just through them.

Voki v.s Blabberize

I found that they were both easy to use after we figured out what was going wrong. I liked Blabberize more than Voki because you were able to pick a picture and pick where the mouth moves. I would use Blabberize again because it was more customizable. I could use these for another blog or website and a project.

Real Life Stories

Teresa gave out her name, phone number, her hobbies, and her brother's name. I have put personal information the Internet, but it was very minimal. I think the most important thing to remember when on the Internet is to know that you aren't the only person out there and that there are people that want your information.

Eduardo took a bunch of pictures at a party and he posted them online. His principal and coach saw the pictures and were disappointed. His principal said that he broke the student athlete code of conduct and he lost his place on the swim team and his possible future scholarship. His fellow team mates that were in the photos were called to the office. He lost what could have been a very good future.

Digital Footprint Analysis

I am proud that I have nothing to hide and everything that I have on the internet is good. I wasn't surprised about anything because I have nothing bad on the internet. I am not embarrassed about anything. I would keep everything that I put on the internet good and have nothing bad on it.

Cyber Bully

When Taylor confronted the bully it wasn't realistic because most people would get bullied more after they confronted the bully. After Taylor's mom talked to the senator it seemed like he dismissed her and that would more than likely happen in real life. Most parents would go and notify someone about the cyber bullying and try to fix it. It doesn't seem possible for Taylor to become friends with her friend created the fake profile and spread false information onto the internet where everyone can see it. Her friend thought that she deserved to be bullied because she was so rude to her best friend.

Netiquette

Netiquette is a set of rules for behaving properly online. It affects everyone that uses the internet because you are always in contact with someone else because you aren't the only person on a webpage in any moment in time. Good netiquette includes being nice to others even if you don't think you are in contact with another person, following the rules that you would follow in everyday life, respecting other's property, knowledge, privacy, and reputation. Bad netiquette includes harassment, cyber bullying, "Flaming", giving false information, hacking people's information and computer, and taking other people's bandwidth.

What's Legal?

File sharing can be legal, but most files that are shared are violating copyright laws. MP3 files that are made from CD's and put on the internet without the copyright holder's permission is illegal. You can make a personal copy of a CD for personal use as long as you don't sell it or give it away. The U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act prohibits the copying of copyrighted music except if you make a personal copy.
The penalties for breaching the copyright act could result in many years in prison and a large fee.

A&M records vs. Napster

A & M Records created a copyright infringement case against Napster in 2001 for stealing music and distributing it to anyone that wanted it. Napster offered free music downloads through peer to peer file sharing. Napster was guilty and had to pay $26 million to different recording companies and songwriters.

Research Project

I think my presentation was ok, it could have been better because I only used a small amount of information out of the large amount that I had. My favorite part of the research project was the making the brochure because it was easy to get beautiful pictures from Ireland. My least favorite part of the project was the presentation of the PowerPoint because I forgot what i was going to say as i began my PowerPoint. I learned that immigrants from Ireland brought the idea of moonshine and home brewed alcohol to the United States. The tourist attractions were hard to research because I didn’t want to make them too similar, but there are a lot of similarities between the attractions. The only strong point in my presentation was the pictures because so many people visited the attractions that I presented.

Technology Article

Razer has created a new gaming laptop that will run almost any program, but with the high price you could get a better laptop for less. It is based off of their 2nd generation Razer Blade which had many components that are used in the newer version. One of the major disadvantages other than the price is the fact that it doesn’t have the optical drive (disk reader) like some of the other laptops have built in,  you would have to buy a detached drive and hook it into the laptop. For being $2,500 it is on the high end of the gaming audience. (Low end is the cheap side and high end is the expensive side.) However, this laptop is built for gaming and that's where most of the improvements were made. It has a brand-new quad-core processor (i7-3632QM) developed by Intel, a high-end Nvidia GeForce GXT 660M and 8GB of RAM, the new Blade isn't quite at the top with a small 8GB of RAM it could have 16GB instead, but it suits well for some people.
